In July 2018, Blue Sky Rescue (BSR) responded to the catastrophic collapse of the Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy hydropower dam in Laos, which affected approximately 13,000 people and led to severe loss of life, with hundreds missing. BSR mobilized a team of 88 members, supported remotely by 144 additional responders, to carry out international humanitarian efforts.
Over 11 days, BSR teams operated across a 30 km radius in Attapeu Province, rescuing 38 individuals and providing medical aid to 263 victims. Despite challenging conditions—flooded landscapes and deep mud that hampered movement—BSR remained committed to saving lives. The team also assisted in disinfection efforts and delivered critical emergency relief supplies to affected communities.
This mission highlights BSR’s dedication to international disaster relief, demonstrating its core values of professionalism, resilience, and its enduring commitment to leave no life behind.
