In February 2023, Blue Sky Rescue (BSR) launched an international humanitarian mission in response to the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquakes that struck southeastern Turkey, impacting several neighboring countries including Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Northern Cyprus, and Iraq. BSR mobilized a rapid-response team of 341 members across multiple waves of deployment. Equipped with advanced search-and-rescue technologies, such as life-detection systems and drones, the team operated in severely damaged areas including Malatya, Adıyaman, and Kahramanmaraş.
BSR’s operations spanned over a week, during which the team covered 380 buildings and searched 180,000 square meters, rescuing survivors trapped under debris and providing direct medical aid to those in need. Despite extreme conditions such as freezing temperatures and collapsing structures, BSR remained steadfast in its commitment to save lives. In coordination with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and local authorities, BSR provided critical support during the disaster response.
This mission exemplifies BSR’s unwavering dedication to international disaster relief, demonstrating its core principles of solidarity, professionalism, and a relentless drive to ensure that no life is left behind.
