About Us
The Blue Sky Rescue Foundation is an international humanitarian organization that manages the Blue Sky Rescue (BSR) initiative. By initiating, organizing, implementing, and supporting humanitarian aid operations, the BSR Foundation responds to global humanitarian crisis and spreads the humanitarian spirit.
At the same time, the BSR Foundation is committed to continuously supporting disaster-affected communities and humanitarian rescue NGOs in building professional emergency response capabilities. It provides organizations and the public who embrace humanitarian aid principles with professional development and training in emergency rescue skills, popularizes disaster prevention and mitigation knowledge, and fosters the growth and spread of humanitarian aid culture.

Blue Sky Rescue, established in 2007 by Mr. Zhang Yong, Chairman of the Blue Sky Rescue Foundation, has expanded to become the world’s largest rescue-focused International Humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with its origins in China, dedicated to executing critical volunteer rescue missions globally.
Currently, Blue Sky Rescue deploys more than 220,000 team members and volunteers across 800 local teams in 9 countries to respond to humanitarian disasters worldwide. As of 2023, Blue Sky Rescue conducts over 20,000 rescue missions annually, assisting more than 32 million people each year. BSR’s work primarily focuses on leading or participating in emergency rescue operations for various natural disasters (e.g., earthquakes, typhoons, floods, fires, mudslides, snowstorms) and human-caused disasters (e.g., collapsed buildings, large-scale explosions), including urban search and rescue, water rescues, mountain and wilderness search and rescue, pandemic sanitation, disaster prevention & mitigation education, and more. Over the years, Blue Sky Rescue has accumulated extensive rescue knowledge & techniques and developed diverse and professional technical teams of rescue instructors.
Blue Sky Rescue adheres to principles of neutrality and independence, with no involvement in politics, religion, race, or gender, offering volunteer rescue services and doing their utmost to save lives in any crisis.
