2017 UN INSARAG Simulation Rescue Exercise

On September 10, 2017, Blue Sky Rescue (BSR) dispatched its international team to Malaysia to participate in the UN Asia-Pacific Northern Region Earthquake Response INSARAG Standard Simulation Exercise.



Key Highlights:

· BSR is a long-term participant in the UN OCHA INSARAG network, with 44 certified INSARAG members in 2017.

· Scenario: An 8.0 magnitude earthquake near Kuala Lumpur caused widespread destruction, with thousands dead and hundreds missing.

· Response: BSR's command center launched rescue coordination while field teams, equipped with rescue dogs and certifications, reported to RDC and OSOCC for task assignments.

Established in 1991 under the UN, the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) is the world's highest-level disaster response network. It enhances USAR team efficiency, ensures coordination during international rescue missions, and builds disaster response capacities globally.
