On August 5, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Lombok Island, Indonesia, causing 436 deaths and over 1,300 injuries. The earthquake's high magnitude combined with a population density of 1,000 people per square kilometer in the epicenter, made the impact devastating. Additionally, there have been 593 aftershocks, further complicating rescue efforts. Local hospitals were severely damaged, presenting a significant challenge in managing and treating the large number of injured individuals.
This rescue mission was mainly lead by the Blue Sky Rescue Malaysian Branch, a professional EMT group, responded promptly, providing critical medical aid to affected communities. Despite challenges, the team’s rescue efforts included treating severe injuries, performing disaster assessments, and collaborating closely with local teams. Through their unwavering commitment, they made a significant impact in the hardest-hit regions.
The team's efforts brought relief to remote communities that lacked access to medical care, exemplifying BSR's commitment to humanitarian aid and global solidarity.
